Clearing the Air
Navigating Safety and Recovery in Los Angeles.
Lots of thoughts on what is happening here in Los Angeles but don’t worry will also share my thoughts on Tik Tok…
OK, let’s start with what’s happening here in Los Angeles. It feels like we’re living in a alternate universe. We are one the lucky ones—we have a house, we have power. Unfortunately, we can’t use the water right now, but honestly, I don’t care. My heart goes out to all of our friends who lost their homes in the blink of an eye. I’m going to link to a few GoFundMe campaigns for friends, in case you’re interested in contributing. The backbone of my business Meg Elliot. Former clients and friends Joy, Suzy and Aida. Firefighters who lost their homes. Our friends whose home is still standing but everything in it is a total loss.
The incredible strength of this community has blown me away. The way people show up during times of tragedy and the kindness they show to others is nothing short of amazing.
One of the new concerns parents in our community have right now is about air and water safety. Questions keep coming up:
• Should our kids be in school without masks? I am sending my child in a mask. This is the mask that is “Dr Organic Mommy Approved” and we have been loving grateful to have. Definitely nothing to love about being back in masks.
• Should they be outside on the playground? Unclear. Many schools are doing a great job of deep cleaning.
• How do we clean our homes—inside and out—with all this ash? I have people. Contact me directly if needed.
• How do we properly handle the water? Also unclear.
• How long will this recovery process take? So many thoughts on this.
Living in a town bordering the Palisades, I share many of these concerns myself. That’s why we spoke with a leading expert on air quality for this week’s episode of When Millennials Become Moms. I’m linking the podcast here, in case it’s helpful for you.
